PALMER UTTERBACK:
Black & White Photo Exhibit at Patti’s Thunder Café, in Quincy, California, beginning on July 12, 2025.
Photographer Palmer Utterback presents a striking collection of images captured in Plumas County between 1984 and 1986 — a time when freight trains still rolled with cabooses through the Feather River Canyon, and the rugged character of rural Northern California was etched into every old barn, truck, and timber road.
Shot in black and white, the series includes views of locomotives, mountain landscapes, weathered ranches, logging equipment, and small-town Americana. A selection of prints are subtly colorized, blending memory and reality, and adding a contemporary breath to historic moments.
This exhibit is a visual love letter to a disappearing time and place — one that still echoes in the mountains and valleys of Plumas County.
Limited edition prints are available for purchase during the show.
